aosid's Diaryland Diary

it may be that the closest you ever look at someone is when you are trying to tell whether they're lying. it may be that that's a shame, an omen, a saddening little failure on the part of society, but that's unimportant. the worthier part is how, in your rapt paranoid umbrage, you sink into their smile lines and the intricate unannounced patterns in their irises. your rational mind shrieks at the hint of a tic while your skin begins to hum in tune with theirs. you can see their life's histories in the gaps between their dubious words; the very sound of their voice unfurls into an orchestra seeking a common pitch amongst joy and loneliness and contentment and hunger and secrets. it may be that they have wronged you, yes, but that does not diminish the miracle of really knowing them for an instant through the barest of hints.
